Jaswant Thanda |
Jaswant Thanda is a cluster of royal cenotaphs of the Jodhpur royal house, in white marble, built from 1899 A.D. Named after Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, Jaswant Thanda is located North of Meherangarh Fort and can easily be reached by a short road journey.
Maharaja Jaswant Singh II purged Jodhpur of dacoits, installed irrigation systems and boosted the economy, making Jodhpur a prominent town. The cenotaphs of the royals are beautiful and made of carved marble. Surrounded by planned greens, Jaswant Thanda presents a pretty picture. Jaswant Thanda also presents the best angle to take pictures of the majestic Meherangarh Fort.
Jaswant Thanda is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. Small entry fee as well as fees for photographic equipment needs to be paid. |
