Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, UdaipurKumbhalgarh is a mere ninety kilometers from Jodhpur and can be reached in about two hours. The sanctuary takes its name from the historic Kumbhalgarh Fort. The invincible fort was built by Rana Kumbha in 1458 and is the second oldest fort of Rajasthan after Chittor fort. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 578 sq. kms in the Thar Desert and Aravali hills and its altitude ranges from 500 to 1300 meters.


The diverse wildlife here includes leopard, hyena, sloth bear, wolf, jackal, jungle cat, hare, nilgai and the four horned antelope. Apart from being an excellent place for wildlife lovers, the sanctuary is also a bird watcher’s delight. Jungle fowl, white breasted kingfisher, parakeets, golden oriole, varieties of pigeons, bulbul, and red owls are just some of the bird species found here in Kumbhalgarh sanctuary.


After enjoy the luxury and sights of Jodhpur and Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh sanctuary is excellent to round off the trip with an experience of India’s wildlife.
